Revision Total Knee Arthroplasty surgery is performed when a prior knee replacement has failed. Possible causes include loosening of the implants, infection, malalignment, instability and normal wear and tear. During this procedure, part or all of the old knee replacement is removed and replaced again.
Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty surgery is performed after total hip replacement failure, infections, repeated dislocations, loosening and normal wear and tear. In addition, patients who may have had a metal on metal implant used previously may need to have a revision if their implant has been recalled. During this procedure, part or all of the prior hip replacement is removed and replaced again.
