Colorado Advanced Orthopedics is a division of Pioneers Medical Center. We’re located in Meeker, at the beautiful intersection between the sandy deserts of Dinosaur, CO and the dense forests of the White River National Forest.

Meeker is a small mountain town located on the famous White River, just below the Flat Tops Wilderness Area. Positioned in the northwestern corner of Colorado, Meeker offers access to an extensive amount of land overseen by the Bureau of Land Management, State of Colorado, and Federal Forest Service. Meeker’s public land provides limitless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, with expansive hiking, biking, snowmobiling and motorized vehicle trails. In addition, there are many opportunities for fishing, camping and hunting along Meeker’s streams, lakes, reservoirs, and the White River. It should come as no surprise that Meeker has developed a reputation as a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Outdoor Destinations in and Around Meeker

The Meeker area is a great place for adventure seekers. From paddleboarding at Lake Avery to spelunking the treacherous Spring Cave, there is always something to see and do. Some of the outdoor activity highlights in the area include:

• Meadow Lake – One of the area’s many high country lakes, Meadow Lake offers accessible summer camping and hiking amenities with stunning views.
• Flat Tops Wilderness Area – The Flat Tops Wilderness Area is home to the elusive Trapper’s Lake and its surrounding trails. The Wall Lake Trail is one of the steepest routes to the top of the Flat Tops, and it delivers spectacular valley views.
• South Fork White River Campground – This area offers excellent access to camping and fishing. The Spring Cave, located near the campground, is a favorite spot for many local spelunkers.
• Blair Mountain – This mountain provides gorgeous views of the north face of the Flat Tops, and is a prime fishing spot.
• Flat Tops Scenic Byway – Go for a scenic afternoon drive and end up in Yampa, a small town considered the gateway to the famed Flat Top Mountains.

Meeker’s Historic Downtown

Meeker is a community with a passionate history and culture, and there are many historic sites to experience. The downtown area hosts a series of concerts, farmer’s markets, gatherings and community events all year long.

While the streets are quiet and peaceful in the morning, the downtown area is usually bustling with activity by mid-day. Some places to visit while exploring downtown Meeker include:

• White River Museum – Take a deep dive into the long, storied history of Meeker and the surrounding area. The museum offers a unique set of exhibits providing insight into the lives of early pioneers and native populations in the region.
• Downtown Pavilion – The Downtown Pavilion is the center of most downtown events, including concerts, races and fairs.
• Meeker Public Library – Our library offers a wide range of amenities, including internet, research tools, computer assets, and a vast selection of books.
