Summer is a beautiful time of year in Meeker. There are abundant sunny days to enjoy the outdoors, and at 6,444 feet in elevation, our mountain town enjoys temperate weather that is ideal for staying active. In addition, Meeker hosts various events throughout the summer that provide an opportunity to soak in the local, small-town flavor that makes Meeker such a great place to visit.

The Meeker Summer Rodeo Series is a great way to soak in some of our town’s authentic Western culture. This event is held at the Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds every Thursday night starting June 13th and continuing through August 15th, providing a fun evening for the entire family. Events include
The slack starts at 6 pm, and the rodeo starts at 7 pm. Please note that there is no Rodeo Series event on Thursday, July 4th, as Meeker holds other festivities to celebrate Independence Day.
Experience the vibrance of downtown Meeker during our Meekerpalooza series. This event is held twice in June and once in July. It features live music, craft brews in our Beer Garden, the Meeker farmers market, and a variety of other activities.

The Rio Blanco County Fair has been a highlight of our community events since 1921. This event is held from July 31st to August 5th and features a variety of family-friendly events, including:
The Meeker Mustang Makeover provides a true Wild West experience. Held August 23-24, horse trainers from the west will gather in Meeker to compete for prize money and scholarships. Each trainer will have trained a Wild American Mustang for 120 days, and there are two separate divisions for this competition:
At the end of the event, the horses entered into the competition will be auctioned off, allowing attendees to take home an American Mustang.
The event kicks off with a Wild West “Mustang Mingle” party with dancing and dinner on August 23rd. The competition will occur on August 24th from 10 am to 7 pm.
